1. COLLAPSE - 7 SONG DEMO : Collapse was steady pace, yet aggressive metallic hardcore band
from Ogdensburg. while i never got the chance to see them play before they broke up, i could only imagine the live shows they
put on. this band definitly reminds me alot of bands like Full Blown Chaos, and others of that nature. members went on to
form The Dying Game Theory and As Angels Weep. this was the first cd i bought that i could seriously call "hardcore".
2. ARMY OF DARKNESS - FOR NOTHING 11 SONG DEMO : okay, so a friend hooked me up with this
at a show back in '99, and i seriously had no idea. From Burlington, VT. A.O.D. was a sick mix of So-Cal Grind/Power Violence
and what kids today call Death Metal, reminds me alot of Phobia. you'll get your spinal cord lost in the deep vocals
and crazy blast beats. nuff said.
3. THE DYING GAME THEORY '99 DEMO : fuck! i miss this band so much. formed from the ashes
of Husk and Collapse. i got the chance to see them twice during they're almost 4 or 5 year existence and they we're incredible.
slow ambient metallic doom-core complete with bizarre background noise and crazy breakdowns, it's fucking genuis i can't even
tell you. TDGT was one of those bands you wish didn't self-destruct before it's time. with they're drone/metal riffs and weird
stage effects like old reel screens showing bizarre art clips of bombs, riots, crying babies, tv static and clips fromThe
Texas Chainsaw Massacre while having to tolerate a flashing strobe light for 25 minutes, they definitly put on a
great show. also featured an amazing version of "good night" on "FOUR CORNERS" a four way split inch with Sever (albany),
DieMyWill (CT) and Groundzero (CT) on Slave Union Records back in '98-'99. (

4.
58 SENSE 8 SONG DEMO : I managed to find this 8 song demo on Napster one night (whaa?). but, i had
been an fan of these guys since the first time i saw them play Hurley's back in '99 and with the mix of fast catchy punk and
ska riffs, cool words, they are definitly worth the listen. these guys came from Ogdensburg and just disappeared. i also have
5 song basement demo done on a boombox i got back in '00.
5. SOMBER - 8/31/99 11 SONG DEMO : these guys went to high school with me and i became good
friends with them. seriously, to call them emo would be lame on my part. they we're just a fucking great rock band through
ad through. some of they're influences i would have to say would have been Sunny Day Real Estate and Hum. played alot of shows
around potsdam, saw them alot through the course of 2 years. then they all left for college. i miss them. Ryan Hope played
for Animus and would leter front Never Broken and North By NorthWest before moving to Chicago.
6. SOME STRANGE REACTION 7 SONG DEMO : SSR was another one of those catchy melodic fast-core
bands from the O-Burg, but definitly the most famous of all of them. i also have a 5 song demo (just fully remastered) i managed
to get from they're first show in Potsdam with Layton Ave. and Klusterfuk. rumor has it, they weren't supposed to release
it due to some disagreement with the producer. they were around for about 3-4 years and then broke up. suprise surprise. really
cool band.
7. AMERICAN HOT WAX - WISH YOU WERE HERE 4 SONG DEMO : from somewhere down state. this band
played Hurley's once back in '01 and frankly i thought they we're amazing. fast, catchy emo with some super phat punk rock
breakdowns and old school 2-steps. this bands a most for any old school kid who likes a good catchy punk rock song.
8. NO MORAL STANDARDS 4 SONG DEMO : okay, so most of you guys know this band anyways, but
this recording was done in '98 and didn't see the light of day (atleast i don't think so) until 3 years later. Saw these guys
over 10 times. got the privilage of seeing their first show back in '98. amazing metallic hardcore band. lead singer went
on to front Endicott (Equal Vision Records). amazing reallly amazing. really there's nothing else i need to say that kids
in the scene don't already know about them. to bad you guys missed out on some really great live shows.(https://members.tripod.com/NoMoralStandards/)
9. AS ANGELS WEEP... 4 SONG DEMO TAPE/CD : fucking loved these guys!! such a good band. post-hardcore
METAL from Potsdam. got a copy of this tape back in '98. fucking crazy. fast, furious, doomy. fun for throwing your lifeless
body around too. nuff said. heard for a while they we're back together under a new line-up but never got to see it. original
founding member Scott eventually moved to Virginia.
10. KLUSTERFUK 7 SONG DEMO : not really sure when this was recorded, i think sometime
in '97-'98. hailed from Massena NY, and was notorious for always having a different line-up every show. crazy spastic stoner
(literally) influenced metallic hardcore/punk. love it. cant get enuff of it. these guys are crazy. HARDCORE BABY!
11. MILLIONS OF SOUND - THE RULES OF LIGHTING 4 SONG DEMO : recorded on a 4 tracker i believe.
i used to see these guys all the time during '03. fucking amazing spacey indie rock band!! great live shows. great
catchy songs, and amazing lyrics. reallly sad they broke up. :-( if you ever find a copy of MADSTOP Productions CD complilation,
get it, these guys are on it and contains probably the best song they ever wrote and recorded. hands down.
12. FACERAKE 6 SONG DEMO : crazy Plattsburgh metal-core doom recorded in '99. never got a
chance to see them play, infact i picked the cd up from a local record store for 5 bucks and love it. crazy low-tone.
double bass, creepy vocals. a must i say.
13. ASKEW - HARDCORE FROM NOWHERE '94 5 SONG DEMO : okay, so i got this tape from a friend
who got it from a friend of a friend. long story. but i got this tape and it's amazing. recorded in '94 long before even my
time, displays old-school hardcore. posi-core if you call it that. not fast at all. very steady, no breakdowns, but really
fucking good. original members we're students at SUNY Potsdam & Clarkson, ass well as singer Mike Murphy from Norwood.
if i'm correct it was the same murphy who went on to play for TDGT, Layton Avenue, and Communion. wish i was around to see
them.
14. HUSK 5 SONG DEMO : again another tape i got off of a friend, i believe it was recorded
sometime in late 97 on a four tracker. HUSK was from massena and were amazing metallic hardcore band with a very d.i.y. post-hardcore
metal feel to them. i must admit if you choose a favorite diy record of all time it might have to be this one. the
sound quality isn't that great, but the material is worth it and the poor quality adds to the intensity and magic. they're
also featured on a '98 Losing Face Compilation CD that has long since been out of print. i only got to see them once.
but they were seriously a great band. you are missed Chad.
15. LOST CAUSE - I'M A CAR WASH 7 SONG DEMO : i think this was they're LP, but i'm not really
sure. it's one of the two releases they put out. got this from my friend tommy. saw these guys alot. another one of those
super catchy punk bands from O-brug. love these guys to death. Lost Cause... enuff said.
16. THREE SHADES TO EVE 5 SONG DEMO : saw them once in '99. hails from Plattsburgh.then they
disappeared after only a year or so. dark metal hardcore grind = TSTE. i too this day still love this tape to death.
dual male, female vocals with a crazy doom/grind quality to it. seriously incredible. one of the best diy grind-core bands
i've seen in a long time. (https://www.angelfire.com/ny3/shadestoeve/)
17. NO GAME SHOW 11 SONG DEMO : i got this from my good friend (ex. NGS bassist) Robert Silver.
got too see NGS only once but fuck man! aside from the turntables (joke) and the weird AC/DC covers they were by far
the coolest punk/ska band around at that time. these hailed from Massena and were a big deal in Saratoga and Plattsburgh back
in the day. Sounding a little something like Bad Religion and NOFX. they played EVERYWHERE. the demo i have was never
released, and i used to own a official 5 song demo recorded in '98 complete with a super nice demo sleeve and 5 of the
fastest street punk songs ever, but it was sadly stolen from me. (http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Club/5485/NGS/ngs.htm)
18. GOBLIN GRENADE 2 SONG DEMO : released sometime in '04. GG was labeled as a '77 punk band,
or surf punk band, or whatever. they were a rock band. original members of Chode, this band was rad. apparently they're still
around and releasing a full-length. i hope i hope i hope. (http://www.myspace.com/goblingrenade)
19. LAYTON AVENUE : okay, legends, amazing band. screamo influenced hardcore/punk. ex. members
of Solace, No Game Show and Pandemonium. started out as a three piece pop-punk band back in '99. formed in Massena and ended
up in Plattsburgh as a metallic Screamo Hardcore band. multi-line up changes. amazing. i have copies of both LP's. "All
Romantics Are Quitters" 7 song demo and " A Cancer In Heaven" 6 song LP released on JET PACK RECORDS. this band was a big
part of my growing up in the scene. saw them more times than i can count. loved them. sad they broke up. (http://www.myspace.com/laytonavenue)
20. UPON THESE WINGS : UPW came out of the ashes of As Angels Weep when only remaining original
member Scott was trying to keep the band alive. with help from locals, scott finally moved Maryland and the remaing musicians
began writting new material and changed the band name. contrived of musicians from old bands like No Remorse, Quiet Time Diary,
No Moral Standards, and This Ember to name a few. sounding something like straight up Metal-core, i could hear quit a
few post-hardcore eliments to their sound. They released a four song demo before breaking up only to return as a three piece
recording a 3 song demo and making a shit load of t-shirts and playing one last show, before vanishing into the
night.
21. LARIAT - MEANS OF PRODUCTION 8 SONG LP : okay, so not necessarily at all a local
band, actually hailing from Albany. Lariat was a favorite of locals who got to see them the 3 or 4 times they played potsdam
back in '99-'00. this cd is a cross of metallic hardcore and spastic grind. fucking incredible band that would later
become Burning Bridges.
22. IMPASSE '97 4 SONG 7 INCH VINYL : alright, again, not a local band. these guys we're
from Ithaca and i think played once in potsdam, but if you we're around back then, you knew that every d.i.y. record distro
carried atleast 3 copies of this record in their collection. from what i heard they we're kind of a big deal with kids.
a blend of high-end noise hardcore and a little bit metal. but seriously a great find. good tunes and strip down basic packaging.
23. DOWN FOUNDATION/DEAD THIRTEEN SPLIT 7 INCH : okay, so i bought this from Strawberry Fields
back in '99. features one of my favorite posi SXE hardcore bands of all time. DxFx went on to form ENDICOTT and
ONCE AND FOR ALL, both played potsdam rather frequently (let's face it, Endicott was a BIG deal). but this record has
2 songs from each band is incredible, definitly my first record purchase and one of my all time favorites. also own
Down Foundation - this time is ours 8 song '98 CD release on Losing Face Records. this cd sat in Fields for 2 years
till i bought it in '02.
24. okay, this one is hard because i got a mix tape off a friend and it had 6 songs from a band's 7 inch on
it. my friend got a tape of the songs from his friend who recorded them off the original record he owned in collection. i
have no idea what the bands name is, where they are from or anything. my friend guesses they might have been a local
band back in '96-'97 or so that his friend had seen. but it's 6 songs of crazy spastic diy crusty hardcore. you'd
definitly be taking a chance on this one, but a good chance. really amazing stuff in all honesty.
25. THIS TIME NOW 7 SONG DEMO : one of my bands from back in the day via '02. we played alot
shows for a whole year at the 946, Hurley's and everywhere else. managed to record a 6 song demo with JET PACK and a recording
of one song we never ended up releasing. the demo made it's way into the hands of maybe 50 people or more. we we're a 3 piece
spastic screamo post-hardcore punk band. you'd like us. we played our last shows with Wards (VT '77 Punk), 13th Chair (Albany
Metal), and Endicott (EVR's).
26. NEVER BROKEN 3 SONG DEMO : NB was kind of a really big deal back in '01. contrived of
ex. members of Somber. NB was at first an old-school hardcore band, but after replacing original singer Lou with bassist Ryan.
that band began showing it's true intentions with post-hardcore indie emo songs resembling Brandston, and The Apple Seed Cast.
sooon everyone was sporting black NB t-shirts. they played a bunch of shows, got a good fan base. broke up when drummer AJ
graduated and went on tour as a roadie for Bayside. other members moved away and started other bands like North By North West,
Harbored Resentment, and Wes-Ley.
27. "KEEP IT REAL" A LONG ISLAND DIY COMP : my best friend Danthlozer from LI put this together
when he moved to potsdam to attend college in '00-'01. the comp features 25 rough sounding songs from bands
like 1080, Fair Warning, On The Might Of Princess, Contra, South Paw and many more. mostly fast-core, punk and hardcore,
but really good. all transfered off tapes from dan's own collection. so each song has it's on quality. it's still
amazing. he also has two releases of "DIY TILL I DIE" featuring No Moral Standards, Latterman, Dearly Departed, 12 Hour Turn,
Man Hunt, Regarding I and alot more.
28. EHNAHRE 7 SONG DEMO CD : this band played one show in Ogdensburg with A Fall Farewell
and Some Strange Reaction back in '01. but what's on this cd is not what we heard that day in the VFW. what we got was
4 guys making the slooooooweeest, dooooomiest sludge-core drone noise on the face of this planet. it was so load and
incoherent, one of the guitar players had enough time to run out to their van and change amplifier heads in the middle of
a song without you even noticing a difference. the cd shows off enhahre when they we're a speedy grind-core noise-metal
band back in '99 from the "black hills" of Cape Cod before they dropped their original lead singer and became more instrumental.
amazing disc!! and if you ever come across the tape they made of they're sludge concoctions. lemme know!
29. DEADEYESUNDER 11 SONG LP : fucking conneticut metal-core via '97 or '98. got this cd
off of a good friend of mine. apparently D.E.U. was a big band among metal heads in potsdam. they could be seen on backpacks,
and heard in cd players. this cd is some of the creepiest post-hardcore metal i've heard in along time. again, another one
of my all time favorites. I also have '97 split 7 inch with them and Groundzero back when DEADEYESUNDER was called Fleshold.
http://www.myspace.com/groundzerocthc
30. DIE MY WILL / ALL YOU'VE LOST SPLIT 7 INCH : two more of those legendary CT
bands you never got to hear. found this record when bands like Groundzero, Dead Eyes Under would come to play. these
bands were around for most of '96-'97 and put out a great 4 song 7 inch full of great structured post-hardcore metal.
lots of deep vocals, heavy chuggs and sweet breakdown, & lead riffs.
31. NEW DAY RISING 8 SONG LP : holy fucking Ontario Canada. New Day Rising put this 8 song
cd out in '97 and i was fortunate to have gotten it in a stack of cd's i was copying from a band mate of mine in '99. the
cd features spastic metallic hardcore with some hints of melody and some of the phatest breakdowns i've ever heard, crazy
metal song structures and spine shattering vocal arrangements. sooooooo gooooood. also have a split 7 inch with them
and Despair (Trust Kill Records) that was recorded back '95-'96. once again one of those bands that all of my friends
used to swear by and love unconditionally.
32. PALMER RAIDS '00 DEMO : were a politicaly motivated hardcore band from Plattsburgh.
tried to mix it up with hardcore punk and grind, and express their ideas at the same time. palmer raids put out one demo
and played shows all over new york during their one year stint. members included ex. This Broken Rule, and Jayme of Long Islands
CONTRA. 6 songs, amazing! http://www.upstatenoise.com/rip.php
33. STUTTER AT 7 : this band was around in '02 for a while. crazy fucking thrash band from
Plattsburgh that sounded alot like a cross between Minor Threat and Crass. members went on to form Oceania, and Fighting
For Monuments. This band was seriously the shit. i remember loving them., definitly a great punk band to check out. could
only find 4 songs, but it's totally worth it. 6 minutes of the craziest stuff you havn't heard yet. http://www.upstatenoise.com/rip.php
34. MR. WARD '98 6 SONG DEMO : okay, so never got to see these kids play, but like No Game
Show who they shared the stage with frequently was simply a super great fast-core punk band with skreechiing vocals and a
totally diy sound from Plattsburgh. have been compared to bands like The Exploited, Totalitar, and The Germs, and are fucking
crazy. we're together for about a year or so. stupid-good!!! http://www.upstatenoise.com/rip.php
35. ANIMUS '98 7 SONG DEMO : Okay! so this tape was a major find. strolling into Strawberry
Fields today with my friend Rob yacking about music and managed to leave with a copy of this demo that a friend had lying
around in his car for a couple years. Unfortunatly the tape only has three out of the 7 songs, but it was still nice to get.
hopefully in the near future i'll find someone with a full copy that's not taped over with weird alternative electro rock
music that skips (haha, thanks anyways Matt). well, anyways. Animus was a band that consisted of friends i went to high
school with. some of the guys would later go on to play in bands like, Somber, Upon These Wings, and As Angels Weep...
They were definitly a great breakdown metal influenced straight up crazy hardcore band and consisted of a few of the only
straightXedge members of the potsdam scene back in the day. really great band, wish i got see them more. hopefully i'll
find the whole 7 song demo some day, but three songs are not bad.
